A Jivamukti, Yin Yoga & Music Retreat

with Amy McDonald & Lou Vilstrup

A yoga retreat is an opportunity to create space to completely recharge and unwind. It is also a great chance to delve deeper into our yoga practise, giving our heart and soul time and space that is needed to grow and expand. Daily asana practice (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercise), kriya (cleansing) and meditation will start to detoxify, rejuvinate, strengthen and renew your body, mind and spirit. A healthy, detoxifying local vegan/vegetarian diet will support the magical power of the retreat landscapes that will nuture the cleansing and healing process that a getaway such as this will provide.

In December of last year I whisked myself away to Sri Lanka to celebrate New Years eve in the sunshine. To my delight I was staying in a stunning retreat, Villa De Zoysa which was recommended to me by a friend. I loved it so much that I decided I would return this year and create my own retreat in this beautiful sanctuary.

This retreat is really special to me not just because I get to return back to Sri Lanka to this beautiful hideaway but also because I will be joined by my dear friend Lou Vilstrup who will be playing live immersive music for the evening classes. She is also a passionate astrologer, having studied at the Academy for Potential Psychology in the Norwegian woods, and will be offering two workshops introducing the concepts of Astrology as well as one to one Astro sessions.

Staying in this stunning hidden gem that sits just moments away from the white sandy beach. Join us on this adventure to beautiful Sri Lanka where you will be nurtured, replenished and revitalized by our team to your every need.

All cuisine will be vegetarian, and locally sourced with fresh local vegetables, olive oil, fruits, nuts and more from the region to nourish and detoxify the body.

Completely dedicate this time away to your well-being, give your heart, body, mind and soul the possibility to find some stillness and balance within. Explore and deepen your yoga practice whilst finding a little inner peace.

Testimonial from our last retreat

"I had the most amazing experience at my first ever yoga retreat in Marrakesh. Amy picked a beautiful venue, the Moroccan villa was stunning and was tucked away from the busy tourist areas which was perfect to completely let go, renew, rejuvenate and relax. During the four days there were a variety of different classes and the choice to do as little or many classes as you wanted. They both accommodated to everyone's level of experience and provided modifications for beginners and more challenging poses for advanced yogis. The size of the group was just right for everyone to get to know each other and I have made some new yogi friends. I would love to join Amy and Sunita for another retreat and would highly recommend their yoga retreats." - Kitty Man

Where will the retreat be held?

Villa De Zoysa is set on the western coast of Sri Lanka in the small region of Bossa.

Amy is a born and bred Kiwi making London her home in 2002. Her yoga journey began 11 years ago and has led to an ever-evolving path through the practice. Previously working in Interior Architecture, she saw the benefits of her yoga practice on her incredibly fast paced lifestyle which led Amy to pursue teaching to be able to share this with others.

With over 1000 hours of training under her belt training with Yogahaven London and has since trained under the guidance of Sharron Gannon and David Life at the Jivamukti Yoga School, New York/London. Amy also has trained with teachers such as Shiva Rea (vinyasa flow) and Norman Blair (yin yoga). Amy teaches weekly at Sangye Yoga School London.

Amy's teaching focuses on alignment, breath and finding depth physically, mentally and emotionally through the practise. Attuning the classes in such a way that the students are in a space to find balance physically and energetically, whilst becoming holistically stronger and increasing flexibility. She aims to create a place where students feel uplifted and empowered and are able to take the practices off the mat with them to improve and inspire their everyday lives.

Having studied at the Academy for Potential Psychology with Olaf Rademacher (covering Astrology, Family constellation work, Psychology, and Inner healing journeys, she is now in the position to guide others.
