A retreat should be just that...a retreat away from our everyday life, an opportunity to delve deeper into your yoga practise, giving your heart and soul time and space that is needed to grow and expand. Daily asana practice (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercise), kriya (cleansing) and meditation will start to detoxify, rejuvinate, strengthen and renew your body, mind and spirit. A healthy, detoxifying local vegan/vegetarian diet will support the magical power of the retreat landscapes that will nuture the cleansing and healing process that a getaway such as this will provide.

I am so excited to be collaborating with my dear friend, talented musician and much more, Lou Vilstrup to bring you a magical experience with YOGA & SOUND.

The Daily Programme

There will be two yoga classes each day. In the morning there will be a flowing and dynamic yoga practice which will be followed by breakfast then in the evenings a more gentle yoga session accompanied with magical live music with Lou Vilstrup. This will then followed by a delicious nutritious dinner. You will be feasting on delicious clean food for supper, foraged from Tilton Wood or grown on-site in our kitchen garden and orchard.

Where will the retreat be held?

Tilton House is just 90 minutes from the hustle and bustle of London. If you would like a quick escape route from the urban sprawl without adding to your carbon footprint or wasting hours in stressful transit, Tilton offers unimaginable calm, with acres of unspolit downland and magic.

You’re invited to...breathe, relax and enjoy this lovely historic house. Stretch in the gardens. Stargaze at the fire-pit.  Take an uplifting walk up on the Downs to forage. Listen to the birdsong. Ghost-hunt for the Bloomsbury Group....or just curl up fire-side with a book. If you’d like to learn if Picasso, Virginia Woolf, or Keynes stayed in your room, you can discover more from reading a few books in the library....

Enjoy the awe-inspiring landscape, either fireside through the arched window in the library or breathing in the wide skies and sea air up on the Tor grassland. Firle Beacon is one of the highest points on the South Downs and rolls back to the track from the door. Its no coincidence that Virginia Woolf, Maynard Keynes, T.S.Elliot and other visionaries took their inspiration from wandering the wild ancient landscape to escape, muse and reflect.

4 x 2 hour yoga classes taught by Amy McDonald (2 classes per day morning and evening)

What's not included in the cost?

The cost does not transport and transfers.

Who will be teaching the yoga classes?

All yoga classes will be taught by Amy & evening classes will be accompanied by Lou.

Amy McDonald is a born and bred Kiwi making London her home in 2002. Her yoga journey began 11 years ago and has led to an ever-evolving path through the practice. Previously working in Interior Architecture, she saw the benefits of her yoga practice on her incredibly fast paced lifestyle which led Amy to pursue teaching to be able to share this with others.

 

With over 1000 hours of training under her belt training with Yogahaven London and has since trained under the guidance of Sharron Gannon and David Life at the Jivamukti Yoga School, New York/London. Amy also has trained with teachers such as Shiva Rea (vinyasa flow) and Norman Blair (yin yoga). Amy teaches weekly at Sangye Yoga School London. 

Amy's teaching focuses on alignment, breath and finding depth physically, mentally and emotionally through the practise. Attuning the classes in such a way that the students are in a space to find balance physically and energetically, whilst becoming holistically stronger and increasing flexibility. She aims to create a place where students feel uplifted and empowered and are able to take the practices off the mat with them to improve and inspire their everyday lives.

Lou Vilstrup is a musician and a singer with soul. In London she performs under the name Dear Joy. 

 

In her spare time, she has an extraordinary passion for self development. Having studied at the Academy for Potential Psychology with Olaf Rademacher (covering Astrology, Family constellation work, Psychology, and Inner healing journeys, she is now in the position to guide others. She uses the birth chart as a tool, and will do personal readings, and offer sessions to anyone interested on the retreat. 

What type of yoga classes can I expect on the retreat?

 

Our morning yoga practices will be energising and dynamic Jivamukti style which is a flowy vinyasa based practice, whilst our evening practices will be a magical blend of gentle flowing Vinyasa and Yin Yoga accompanied by the dreamy live music by Lou Vilstrup candle lit meditation and some blissful yoga nidra. All classes will be tailored to the students so all levels are welcome.

 

Do I have to be of a particular level with my yoga practise for the retreat?

 

No, all the classes will be geared for all levels...from modifications for beginners to challenging sequences for advanced students.

Do I have to attend all the yoga classes?

All classes are optional, so you can do as little or as much as you like. All classes will be accessible to all levels.

 

What will I be eating?

 

You will be eating delicious and healthy vegetarian meals that are made from only the freshest and natural local ingredients.  With advance notice, special dietary requirements can be accommodated so please do let us know. 

 

Top Tips

 

We have found these items to be useful on most retreats:

All yoga equipment will be provided.

 A few changes of yoga wear we will practice more than once a day

Warm clothes

Bring your own walking boots or wellies, as Tilton House is miles from any asphalt.

Bring your bicycle if you would like, you can ride the cycle routes to the sea or the local award winning pub.

Head torch may come in handy

Slippers

Cosy blanket

Swimsuit for the sea or the cedar sauna

Bring wet weather gear all year !

Water bottle to fill up - our water comes direct from a spring on the Downs.

 

What can I do in my free time?

 

There is plenty for you to do HERE is an extensive list or you can just take a load off and rest relax and recharge, bring a good book to get lost in.

Is a deposit required?

 

A 50% deposit is to be paid to reserve your place. Full payment needs to be made by 28th Feb 2020.

 

How far is the venue from London?

Will I be sharing a room?

 

Rooms are double occupancy and price is per person. If you are bringing along a friend or partner please let us know and we make sure you share a room. If you plan to come on your own but would like to share and have any preferences on your ideal roomie. Let us know and we will match you with a suitable room mate. 

 

Will I incur a cancellation cost if I have to cancel last minute?

 

Cancellations costs as follows:

- Prior to 8 weeks before retreat date: full refund

- 4 to 8 weeks before retreat date: 50% refund of the full amount

- Less than 5 weeks before retreat date: no refund possible
